Frequently Asked Questions
Who does the Foster Closet help?
All children in foster care, this includes children that are being raised by a family member (by court order) from birth through transition.
What items are you most in need of?
We provide each child with new socks, underwear, pajamas and a new toy when they come to the Gratiot Foster Closet, so these are items that we always are in need of.
What are the hours of the Foster Closet?
At this time we meet with each family individually on a schedule that works for them. This gives the foster children privacy to shop for themselves without the fear of being seen by other children/adults.
Do you take donations?
At this time we are not accepting an used donations. We will accept donations of new items or financial support. You may reach out to us to schedule a time to meet for donations.
How many kids are there in foster care in Gratiot County?
This is a difficult question to answer because it is different from day to day. The average amount of time a child is in foster care is 18 months but that varies from case to case. We served 38 Gratiot children for Christmas in 2018.
How can I help?
Spread the word. Donate. We are always in need of volunteers. If you would like to schedule a time to come in and help, reach out and we will make a plan.
